Fall Bonfire Safety
11/4/2020 (Permalink)
Fall is a great season for many reasons, one of those being the popular bonfires that we share with family and friends. While this pastime is loved by many, we want to remind you to be safe while attending your fire so that the fun can continue.
- Do not light a bonfire during an extremely windy night as this can cause the sparks and flames to travel onto a structure.
- Never leave the fire unattended and be aware of sudden flareups or sparks.
- Always keep a hose or other water source nearby in case the fire begins to spread uncontrollably.
- Do not burn any flammable chemicals. Aerosol cans and products such as paint should not be burned since they can cause a large fire quickly as well as create unsafe fumes.
- Add wood and debris to the bonfire gradually in order to contain the fire and keep control of the flames.
- When your bonfire is over, ensure that the ashes are cooled down and cover the area with water.
We hope that you are enjoying this time of year and staying safe. Fire damage can occur in the most unexpected ways, and bonfires can be very dangerous. Following these precautions will help to eliminate the risk of a bonfire disaster.
